Hendrixx’s First Rodeo: A Western-Inspired First Birthday
There’s something so special about celebrating a first birthday — not only because it marks such a huge milestone for baby, but because it also becomes a celebration for the family who experienced every first right alongside them.
For Hendrixx’s First Rodeo, we wanted the event to feel playful, immersive, and full of personality while still keeping the design elevated and intentionally styled from beginning to end. Inspired by classic western elements with a modern Soliza touch, every area was designed to feel like its own experience while still flowing cohesively throughout the celebration.
From custom signage and boutique-inspired displays to interactive guest experiences and layered western details, this celebration felt warm, welcoming, and unforgettable from the moment guests arrived.
Welcome to Hendrixx’s First Rodeo
The entrance immediately introduced guests to the western-inspired atmosphere with a custom welcome display featuring milestone photos of Hendrixx throughout his first year.
We love incorporating photo moments like this into celebrations because they instantly create emotion and connection the second guests walk in. Family and friends were able to pause, reminisce, and reflect on just how much Hendrixx had grown during his first year of life.
Layered textures, western-inspired details, and custom signage helped create a welcoming first impression that set the tone for the entire event.
The Main Backdrop Moment
The main backdrop became the focal point of the celebration and truly brought the “First Rodeo” theme to life.
Designed with layered western-inspired elements, custom signage, statement balloons, and themed props, the backdrop created the perfect setting for family photos, cake moments, and memories throughout the event.
We wanted the space to feel playful enough for a first birthday while still feeling polished and visually impactful. The combination of textures, soft neutral tones, western accents, and intentional styling created a design that felt elevated without losing the fun of the theme.
This is always one of our favorite parts of designing children’s events — creating a backdrop that not only photographs beautifully but also becomes part of the overall guest experience.
One of our favorite parts of this celebration was incorporating experiences throughout the event that encouraged guests to interact, explore, and create memories together.
The Adopt-A-Pony station quickly became one of the sweetest moments of the party.
Little guests were able to “adopt” their own pony to take home, creating an interactive experience that felt both playful and memorable. The display itself was styled intentionally to blend seamlessly into the overall aesthetic while still feeling fun and inviting for the kids.
We always love incorporating experiential elements into our events because it allows the celebration to feel immersive rather than simply decorative.
The Soft Play Lounge: A Styled Space Designed For Little Guests
One of our favorite areas from Hendrixx’s First Rodeo was the custom soft play and bounce house setup overlooking the beautiful outdoor scenery.
We wanted this area to feel just as elevated and thoughtfully designed as the rest of the celebration while still giving the little guests a fun and interactive place to play throughout the day.
The all-white bounce house was styled with a custom balloon installation in soft blue, cream, and neutral tones to seamlessly blend into the overall event aesthetic. Paired alongside the soft play setup and custom ball pit, the entire area felt clean, modern, and intentionally curated rather than overly themed.
The custom ball pit quickly became a favorite moment within the space, featuring a personalized “Hendrixx’s First Rodeo” sign that tied perfectly into the celebration. We loved incorporating custom details like this throughout the event because it made every area feel unique to Hendrixx and thoughtfully connected to the overall design story.
From the soft neutral color palette to the playful western-inspired details, this area perfectly balanced functionality for the kids while still maintaining the elevated aesthetic the family envisioned for the celebration.
A Western-Inspired Bar Experience Guests Could Enjoy
Even the bar experience became part of the overall design and guest experience at Hendrixx’s First Rodeo.
Rather than treating the bar as simply a functional setup, we wanted it to feel immersive and cohesive with the rest of the event styling. Custom western-inspired signage, layered décor details, and themed menu elements helped transform the space into its own styled moment within the celebration.
Guests were welcomed with custom mocktails including the Rodeo Rookie and Cowboy Punch, creating a playful nod to the western-inspired theme while still feeling elevated and intentional.
The custom bar menu featured western graphics, horseshoe details, and warm neutral tones that blended seamlessly into the overall aesthetic of the event. We love creating moments like this because it allows even the smallest details to contribute to the overall atmosphere and guest experience.
Throughout the celebration, guests gathered around the bar area enjoying drinks, conversations, and the beautiful outdoor setting while the kids played nearby — creating the kind of relaxed, meaningful environment that makes celebrations feel unforgettable.
